Our county has run back-to-back deficits while revenues grew 152% since 2008 — nearly twice the rate of inflation. We pay $800,000+ annually for eight elected officials who can’t balance a budget. Something is broken. Troy Woody is running to fix it — then step aside.
Troy Woody is not a career politician. He's a fourth-generation Washingtonian raised on a wheat farm, a 25-year resident of Walla Walla County, a father of seven, a grandfather, and a small business owner who has watched government drift further from the people it is supposed to serve.
Elected office was designed as an act of voluntary public service — not a career. Yet Walla Walla County currently pays over $800,000 annually for eight elected officials while running back-to-back deficits, even as county revenues have grown 152 percent since 2008. Something is broken. Troy is running because someone has to be willing to fix it.
His record shows he can. As founder of one of the region's first solar companies, Troy has maintained a near five-star rating over 12 years — built on reliability and delivering results. As manager of the TRAC Center, he produced record-breaking revenues. As Chair of the Hotel Association, he successfully lobbied for and helped pass a tourism tax funded by visitors, not locals, seeding community growth without burdening residents. He has served on the Columbia Burbank School Board and the Sunrise Rotary board, among others, elected without actively seeking the role — because his community trusted his judgment.
Troy is a proven bridge-builder between the public and private sectors, guided by a consistent "win-win" mindset. That same discipline defines his personal life. He holds a 3rd-degree Black Belt in Judo, is a nationally certified coach, and still competes at 62. He and his wife Dawn have been married 37 years and have raised seven children, including three adopted through foster care. He is a Rotarian of the Year, a motorcyclist, and someone who has never stopped investing in the long-term stability of this community.
Troy commits to pursuing Charter County Reform and bringing it to a public vote, reducing government overreach, and stepping aside after two terms maximum. Pioneer-era values. Modern results. No career politicians.
